Yes for now. We use Facebook to pull important information like your public profile and friend list to help create your profile. This is important not only because it makes your signup process fast, but also because it ensures that information is correct. In the future we may add an email sign up method.

DISCOVER

Discovering People is at the heart of what Resonate does for you!
Our proprietary MusicMatch algorithm looks at your music and music genres and compares you to other Resonate users in order to assign a MusicMatch level of High, Mid or Low.
The music and music genres we use for you are set in your MusicMatch Preferences, which can be accessed in your Profile under Edit Profile.
By default we use the Genre Preferences you set up during onboarding (or the Genre Preferences as have been updated by you later in your Profile under Edit Profile) to calculate your MusicMatch score under our algorithm.  If desired, instead of our algorithm using your Genre Preferences, it can use your iTunes music library (if linked).  To make this change, just go to MusicMatch Preferences in your Profile under Edit Profile.
It is possible to change this selection back and forth if desired to see how this might affect the users we serve up to you in Discover People.
In the list of users presented under your Discover People, users are listed by proximity to you (if you have allowed Location Services) from closest to furthest away, within each MusicMatch category (High, Mid & Low).
We will be working hard to improve our MusicMatch algorithm over time and may introduce more MusicMatch levels and more ways that we can refine our knowledge of your music and genre preferences in order to better align the people we show you.
Whenever you see a small red heart icon in the top right hand corner of another user’s profile picture (Discover People, Connections and Chat), that immediately tells you that this user is interested in Dating. Conversely, if there is no small red heart icon in the top right hand corner of another user’s profile picture, then you will know that this user is not interested in Dating.
Whenever you see the small blue Facebook icon in the top left hand corner of another user’s profile picture (Discover People, Connections and Chat), that immediately tells you that this user is your Facebook Friend. Conversely, if there is no small blue Facebook icon in the top left hand corner of another user’s profile picture, then you will know that this user is not your Facebook Friend.
You can also see Mutual Facebook Friends between yourself and any other user.  When viewing another user’s Profile, if there are Mutual Facebook Friends between you, you will see the number of Mutual Facebook Friends, tap view to see a list of your Mutual Facebook Friends.
Use Mutual Facebook Friends to vet and learn more about another user before or after connecting!

If you view another user’s Profile and you tap on Save for Later, this User will show up under Chat in your Saved For Later section for 24 hours.
If another user views your Profile and taps on Save for Later, you will show up under Discover People in their Saved You section for 24 hours.
Saved for Later lets you save an interesting person for later when you don’t have time right then to look at their Profile in detail and/or send them an initial Greeting.
If a Saved for Later user expires (after 24 hours) that person may or may not show back up in your Discover People depending upon other new users coming into Resonate, their MusicMatch rank compared to you, etc.
Make sure to Send that initial Greeting so you don’t lose sight of an interesting person!

Favorite Artists show separately on everyone’s Profile page.
Resonate lets you choose your Favorite Artists during onboarding.  During onboarding we display and let you choose your Favorite Artists from the 20 top Artists from your Favorite Genres you select during Genre Preferences.  Just scroll down the page and tap on any Artist in those presented to add that Artist as one of your Favorite Artists.
Of course, the Artists we suggest for your favorite Genres might not include all of your Favorite Artists, so you can use the Search box to type in and search for specific Artists to add to your Favorite Artists.
When you tap to select an Artist from our list, the outline of that Artist will turn orange and the Artist will appear in the tagged list above.  When you search for and choose to add your own specific Artists, those are added in your tagged list too.  You can remove Artists by tapping the X next to any Artist in your tagged list.
You can also edit your Favorite Artists any time by going to your Profile, then Edit Profile, then Favorite Artists.

DATING

In Resonate, the music layer is on top and music rules all. So we want you to get what you want and use Resonate the way you want.
If you want to use Resonate to find Dates, when you are asked if you would like to use Resonate for dating during onboarding, just choose Yes and then specify if you are a man or woman and whether you are interesting in men, women or both. If you change your mind later, just go to your Profile and select Dating Preferences. You can change your Dating Preferences at any time.
When your Dating Preference is set to Men, Women or Both, then your Profile page shows Interested in whoever you have indicated with a small red heart icon. If your Dating Preference is set to Not Interested in Dating Now, then your Profile shows Interested in Friends.
